When it comes to choosing an Invisalign dentist, thorough research always helps. A beautiful smile is probably one of the most gratifying investments you’ll ever make. If you have already decided that Invisalign offers you the best method for straightening your teeth, you would still need to choose the right provider to perform the treatment.
As you’re probably aware, Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional braces. Using a series of clear plastic aligners, the system is designed for the correction of teeth misalignment issues without the need for metal braces.
While it is true that all Invisalign providers possess the proper training to use the system, not all of them are created equal. For example, you may have noticed that there are different categories of certification for Invisalign providers.
Some Invisalign providers are accredited as Platinum, Platinum Elite or Diamond providers. The difference in accreditation has to do with the number of Invisalign cases the particular dentist or practice has completed. Since 2014, the classification standard for Invisalign’s Super Elite Providers was updated to reflect its growing community of dentists and customer base.
The Super Elite classification ranks the providers according to the following minimum number of cases required: Platinum (51); Platinum Elite (81); and Diamond (151).
Perhaps this classification may not seem relevant to a patient on the surface but it does highlight, in many ways, the expertise, training and experience of the practice as an Invisalign provider. If you like, the accreditation provides the “hard numbers” on the particular dentist’s experience treating with the Invisalign system.
Of course apart from accreditation there are other points of consideration to think about before choosing your Invisalign provider dentist. For example, you may wish to visit different websites to study the backgrounds of the practitioners or ask for feedback and recommendations amongst friends and family. You may even schedule several initial consultations to compare price and value before making the decision. Still, the accreditation offers a statistical and neutral base point to begin your search.
